The Dell PowerEdge FX2 enclosure is the uniquely small modular foundation for the PowerEdge FX architecture, an extremely flexible and efficient platform for building an IT infrastructure that precisely fits your computing needs.
The PowerEdge FX2 is a 2U hybrid rack-based computing platform that combines the density and efficiencies of blades with the simplicity and cost benefits of rack-based systems. With an innovative modular design that accommodates IT resource building blocks of various sizes compute, storage, networking and management the FX2 enables data centers to construct their infrastructures with greater flexibility.
The initial release of the FX2 enclosure can be configured to hold four 1U half-width resource blocks, the PowerEdge FC630 server node or PowerEdge FM120x4 microserver. Future releases will support quarter and full-width servers and a halfwidth storage block. There are two versions of the FX2 chassis the "switched" configuration, PowerEdge FX2s, supports up to eight low-profile PCI Express® (PCIe) 3.0 expansion slots, and the "unswitched" FX2 configuration, a lower-cost alternative that does not offer expansion slots.
